2. In brief
This website sets no cookies and uses no tracking or analytics tools. Fonts, scripts, images and our own videos are served from our web space in Germany. A connection to YouTube is only made when you explicitly play a YouTube video.
If you close the notice pointing to the other language version, your browser remembers this until you close the tab (session storage). Nothing is sent to us.
3. Hosting
The website is hosted on servers of STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany, in data centres in Berlin and Karlsruhe. When you visit, STRATO processes technically necessary data (server log files), in particular your IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and information on your browser and operating system, in order to deliver the site and protect it against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is secure and stable operation. We do not analyse this data ourselves and keep no visitor statistics.
We have a data processing agreement with STRATO under Art. 28 GDPR. The data is processed in Germany; it is not transferred to third countries.
4. YouTube videos
On the interviews page we embed videos from our YouTube channel, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Videos are only loaded once you click “Play video”; before that, no connection to YouTube is made. We use the privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com).
When you play a video, data such as your IP address, information about your device and the video watched is transmitted to Google, possibly also to the USA. YouTube may use cookies or similar storage in your browser. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The legal basis is your consent given by clicking (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, Section 25 (1) TDDDG). You can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future by not starting further videos and reloading the page. More information: Google's privacy policy.
If you choose “play without asking”, your browser remembers this choice until you close the tab (session storage). Nothing is sent to us.
Links to our YouTube channel are plain links. Only when you follow them do you leave our website; YouTube's privacy policy then applies.
5. Contact by email
If you email us, we process your details to answer your enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, otherwise (f)). We delete them once they are no longer needed and no statutory retention obligations apply.
6. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21), and the right to withdraw consent at any time (Art. 7 (3)). You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany.
